JESUS

T he next day he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him were amazed. “Where did he get these ideas?” they asked. “What is this wisdom that has been given him? What are these miracles?” They saw Mary and his family. “This the son of the carpenter!? Here is Mary his mother and here are his brothers sisters!” We watched him grow up right here in our streets. He is ordinary. He is like us.” They took offense at his teaching.

Jesus said to them, “It seems that in his hometown a prophet is without honor. In so dishonoring me, you rob yourselves.” He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them. He was disheartened at their lack of faith. So taking his leave of Nazareth, Jesus went from village to village teaching and preaching to any who would listen.
